Vernalese
Florence, Italy|357 Trees

The Grove
Welcome to Vernalese.
Located on the hills overlooking Florence, this traditional Tuscan grove sits at an altitude of 250 meters with a west-facing exposure that benefits from a distinctive local microclimate.
Spanning nearly five acres, Vernalese is home to 357 olive trees, primarily of the Frantoio and Moraiolo varieties, alongside Leccino, Pendolino, and Olivo Bianco.
These conditions consistently produce oils of remarkable character, and fruit from Vernalese has contributed to Founder's Reserve for three consecutive harvests.

Restoration
Abandoned Grove began caring for Vernalese in 2010.
At the time, our now close friend Giovanna and a small group of local farmers were doing what they could to maintain the grove after her father passed away. Like many traditional groves in Tuscany, Vernalese faced an uncertain future as the older generation of farmers struggled to find successors.
What began as an effort to support the grove gradually became part of Abandoned Grove's wider work restoring traditional landscapes and bringing them back into harvest.
Today, Vernalese remains one of the defining groves under our care.
