Shipping & Delivery

01

Harvest-Based Shipping

Abandoned Grove follows the natural rhythm of the olive harvest.

Because our olive oil is produced once each year from specific groves, shipping schedules follow the timing of the harvest and the preparation of the oil rather than conventional retail timelines.

Typical shipping windows are:

Seasonal conditions may occasionally shift these timelines slightly.

  • Founder's Reserve — late autumn, shortly after harvest
  • One Tree One Bottle (grove-specific oils) — January to February following harvest
  • Community Reserve — released in limited quantities when available

02

From Grove to Table

All olive oil is produced and handled directly within the Abandoned Grove system.

Each harvest is personally overseen by Fil Bucchino together with the growers, millers, and tasters who steward these groves.

After harvest, the oil is:

This approach preserves the character of the oil and allows most bottles to travel from tank to table in approximately one week.

Abandoned Grove does not move oil through wholesale distribution networks or third-party storage systems.

  • double-filtered immediately after extraction
  • laboratory tested for quality and purity
  • stored in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks under nitrogen
  • bottled only when shipments are prepared

03

Freshness Begins With Healthy Fruit

Fresh olive oil is only exceptional when it begins with healthy olives.

Oil produced from damaged or fermented fruit may be technically fresh, but it cannot produce great extra virgin olive oil.

For this reason, much of the work happens before the harvest — monitoring fruit health, caring for the trees, and harvesting at the correct moment. These decisions determine the quality of the oil long before it reaches the mill.

04

Air Shipping

All shipments to North America travel by air.

Although more costly, air transport significantly reduces transit time and minimizes temperature fluctuations that can damage olive oil during long journeys.

This helps ensure that the oil arriving at your table reflects the character it had when it left the mill.

06

Coordinated Shipments

Whenever possible, shipments are consolidated into coordinated delivery windows following the harvest.

This approach protects freshness, reduces unnecessary transport, and minimizes packaging and environmental impact.

07

Damaged Bottles

If a bottle arrives damaged, please contact us and we will make it right.

Because each oil is produced in limited quantities tied to specific groves and harvests, we will always make our best effort to replace the bottle with oil from the same grove and season.

If that is not possible, a replacement from either Founder's Reserve or Community Reserve will be provided.
