Guard an Olive Tree and Share in the Oil it Produces

Guardianship links you to a rescued olive tree in Tuscany that you can follow. Each harvest, receive the exceptional extra virgin olive oil your care makes possible.

The Grove Makes the Oil Possible. The Oil Makes the Grove Worth Keeping.

If the groves are not cared for, the oil cannot reach its full expression.

If the oil is not exceptional, the work cannot last.

An abandoned olive tree at Osteria

Across the Mediterranean, traditional olive groves are disappearing.

As olive oil becomes increasingly commoditized, speed replaces care, and groves that once sustained communities fall out of harvest.

When they go, we lose more than trees. We lose knowledge, culture, and the real food that connects communities to the land.

Abandoned Grove restores threatened groves and protects the conditions that rare extra virgin olive oil requires.

We've spent 17 years building a system to make this possible.

This is how you take part.

The Grove. The Oil. The Community.

Each one depends on the other.

Traceability & Transparency

A named tree in a named grove, geo-tagged and photographed. Know its location, variety, and history. Follow the season through updates from the work. The care is continuous, year-round, and visible.

The Oil the Season Earns

Each harvest is its own interpretation, produced in limited quantity. Patience, restraint, and precise timing guide every decision from fruit to bottle. Handled for freshness, health, and longevity. Tested. Never rushed.

How It Works

Choose How You Participate

Start with Root Membership, or enter through Guardianship (tree-linked participation).

Follow the Season

Follow your grove through seasonal updates, harvest-lot traceability, and invitations to gatherings and events.

Receive the Harvest

Guardians receive exceptional extra virgin olive oil from their grove each season. Root Members receive access.

Each grove contains a finite number of trees. When every tree has found its guardian, that grove closes, and its harvest remains with those who care for it.

Traceable, Tested.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Without Compromise

Great extra virgin olive oil begins long before the mill. It emerges where land, season, and care determine what is possible.

Balance & Complexity

Great oil is defined by balance and complexity, the harmony of fruit, bitterness, and pungency, each expressed with depth and character.

A Sensory Vision, Every Harvest

Each harvest follows a clear sensory vision: oils designed to elevate food, endure over time, and deliver their benefits without compromise.

A Life Dedicated to Olive Oil

Olive oil is not something we discovered. It is a discipline we chose to master.

For nearly two decades, Abandoned Grove’s founder Fil Bucchino has worked across the full craft of olive oil: in the groves, at the mill, in sensory evaluation, and in global education.

A certified olive oil taster, international judge, and creator of the documentary Obsessed with Olive Oil, his work has helped bring a deeper understanding of real extra virgin olive oil to audiences worldwide and has helped shape the global conversation around quality, authenticity, and the future of olive growing.
