Terms of Service

Abandoned Grove creates relationships between people and restored olive groves through membership, Guardianship, oil releases, and shared experiences.

Participation in Abandoned Grove does not constitute ownership of trees, land, groves, harvests, or any physical property.

Membership and Guardianship create ongoing relationships connected to the work of the groves and the harvests they produce.

Root Membership connects members to Abandoned Grove as a whole.

Root Membership may include:

• seasonal updates from the groves;

• letters and communications;

• invitations to tastings, gatherings, and grove events;

• members-only access to Community Reserve;

• first access to Founder's Reserve and selected releases.

Root Membership does not include a specific tree or a guaranteed oil allocation.

Root Membership renews annually for as long as the member chooses to continue.

Members may choose not to renew before the next renewal date.

Guardianship creates a relationship with a specific olive tree within an Abandoned Grove.

A Guardian receives:

• a named tree;

• geo-tagged documentation of the tree;

• photographs of the tree;

• access to the tree relationship through My Grove;

• two 500 ml bottles of extra virgin olive oil per tree, per harvest, from the grove where the tree stands;

• included shipping for Guardian oil allocations;

• access to Root Membership benefits.

Guardianship does not transfer ownership of the tree, land, or grove.

The Guardian relationship is one of connection, care, and participation in the life of the grove.

The tree is the unit of connection.

The grove is the unit of provenance.

Guardian oil does not come from a single individual tree. Producing and milling oil from one individual tree is not physically possible.

Instead, Guardians receive oil from the exact grove where their tree stands.

That oil reflects the varieties, microclimate, land, and season of that grove.

Each Guardian receives two 500 ml bottles per tree, per harvest.

Abandoned Grove does not source Guardian oil outside the rescued groves under its care.

Community Reserve exists to support continuity across the Abandoned Grove community.

Community Reserve is created from trees that remain under Abandoned Grove's care but are not assigned to individual Guardians.

Its availability and character follow the harvest and the conditions of each season.

In larger harvests, Community Reserve allows additional oil to be shared with members.

In more challenging harvests, Community Reserve supports continuity across the Guardian community.

Community Reserve is available only to members.

Founder's Reserve is a limited early-harvest expression shaped by Fil Bucchino.

Each release is produced in limited quantities under a new label for that harvest.

Founder's Reserve is offered to members first.

Additional releases may be offered throughout the year, with members receiving first access.

Olive trees are living organisms and require ongoing care throughout their lives.

As part of responsible grove management, trees may undergo restorative or reformative pruning.

During these periods, a tree may temporarily produce less or no harvest.

A Guardian's oil allocation remains protected through the grove relationship.

If a Guardian wishes to be connected to another available tree during an extended period of restorative care, Abandoned Grove may assist with reassignment where appropriate and where another suitable tree is available.

Olive oil follows the natural harvest cycle.

Harvest timing, preparation, testing, and release schedules depend on the conditions of each season.

Abandoned Grove does not create additional oil outside what the groves can provide.

Guardian oil, Community Reserve, and Founder's Reserve follow their respective release processes.

Memberships and Guardianships renew annually for as long as the member chooses to continue.

Members may choose not to renew before the next renewal date.

Access remains available through the active membership period.

Cancellation does not end an active term immediately.

Once Guardianship has been activated, the tree relationship has been created and grove capacity has been allocated. Guardianships cannot be refunded after activation.

If a Guardian chooses not to continue after a harvest allocation has been established, the active relationship and associated harvest allocation remain fulfilled according to the harvest cycle.

Members may add additional trees when available.

Each tree creates its own Guardianship relationship and includes its own two-bottle harvest allocation.

Multiple trees remain connected through one member account.

The member relationship remains managed through the original Abandoned Grove account.

A Guardian may transfer their relationship to another individual by contacting Abandoned Grove.

A completed transfer may include:

• the tree relationship;

• associated Guardianship access;

• included Root Membership access;

• future harvest allocations connected to the relationship.

Transfer does not constitute transfer of ownership.

Abandoned Grove may require information necessary to complete and confirm the transfer.

Gift Trees provide one year of Guardianship beginning on the reveal date selected by the giver.

The recipient receives:

• a named tree;

• geo-tagged documentation;

• photographs;

• access to Abandoned Grove;

• two 500 ml bottles of oil from the grove where the tree stands after harvest.

Gift recipients do not receive ownership of the tree or land.

Gift relationships are governed separately by the Gift Terms.

Shipping is included for:

• Guardian oil allocations;

• Gift Guardianship oil allocations;

• Custodianship allocations.

Members are responsible for maintaining accurate delivery information.

Oil is shipped to the delivery address on file at the time of fulfilment.

If delivery information is inaccurate or unavailable, Abandoned Grove will make reasonable efforts to assist but cannot be responsible for delays or losses caused by incorrect information.

Grove visits are hosted experiences arranged in advance.

Groves are active agricultural environments, and some are located on private land.

Access depends on:

• season;

• weather;

• harvest activity;

• grove conditions;

• availability of the Abandoned Grove team.

Visitors may not enter groves without prior arrangement.

Custodianship is a deeper relationship with Abandoned Grove designed for organizations, families, hospitality groups, and individuals seeking a larger-scale relationship with the groves.

Custodianships are shaped through conversation and may include:

• larger tree commitments;

• shared oil allocations;

• tastings;

• gatherings;

• grove experiences;

• personalized communication.

Custodianship terms are established separately according to the relationship created.

Membership accounts are personal.

Members are responsible for:

• maintaining accurate account information;

• maintaining accurate delivery information;

• protecting account credentials;

• notifying Abandoned Grove of relevant changes.

Members may not share account access in a way that compromises account security or privacy.

Personal information is handled according to the Abandoned Grove Privacy Policy.

Abandoned Grove collects and uses information necessary to provide memberships, fulfil orders, manage accounts, and communicate with members.

Gift recipient information and member information are handled separately and are not shared beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

Abandoned Grove may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in operations, services, or legal requirements.

Updated Terms will be made available on the website.
