We refuse to make concessions that harm our planet, communities, and personal health, or rob us of flavour and meaningful experiences around the table.
What began with one man’s passion for extra virgin olive oil and a homespun reservation list has led to the rescue and rejuvenation of 64 acres of groves in Florence, Italy, numerous community events, and a growing alliance of artisans and experts.

Abandoned Grove is an alliance of premium producers, millers, tasters, chefs, and visionaries pioneering extra virgin olive oil. More than that, it’s a rediscovery of what’s meaningful.
A philosophy grounded in patience and a reminder that excellence isn’t an indulgence but the refusal to settle for anything less.
We are invested in the craft and work to interpret each season, to create an oil that celebrates experiences, bringing pleasure, health, and connection.
We do this for ourselves, our friends, and our incredible community.
Things here take time and patience; there’s no other way, two bottles per tree, one harvest each year, and skilled hands guiding every step. The result of years of growth, trial and error, and a patient faith that Mother Nature knows best.

The History of Abandoned Grove
2005 – When a Single Taste Became Everything
In Tuscany, one unforgettable oil changed the course of a life.
2009 – Recreating the Feeling
Trying to relive that first taste. Learning at the mill. Oil is shared through a homespun reservation list for friends and family.
2009–2013 – Vision Takes Root
Balatro grove revived. The idea forms: olive oil as regeneration, land, craft, and community.
2014 – Abandoned Grove (Unofficially)
Sustainable and social farming meets world-class milling. A mission begins.
2016 – Name and Philosophy
The identity takes form. Harvest dinners launch in Toronto, oil becomes story, season, experience.
2020 – A Decade and a Breakthrough
Ten years in the groves. Obsessed with Olive Oil releases and reframes the global conversation around quality olive oil.
2022 – Global Collaborations Begin
Partnerships with Yale University, Chambers of Commerce, and Olivares Vivos LIFE to elevate oil as a force for quality, health, and sustainability.
2023 – Milestone Year
Osteria Grove returns. Almost 5,000 trees revived. Fil named Olive Oil Personality of the Year by AIRO.
2024 – Global Recognition
B Corp certified with the highest score in the olive oil industry. The World of Olive Oil premieres in the US on PBS.
2025 – A Regenerative Model
Tree Membership and Grove Custodian programs launch, tying quality to place, and oil to community and to our tables.
