Fil Bucchino
Fil Bucchino is a Florence-born, Toronto-bred, ex-punk-rock-playing, documentarian, educator and entrepreneur who is "Obsessed with Olive Oil." (The name of the award-winning documentary he hosted and co-produced).
He is one of three tasters in North America and one of 31 accredited in the ONAOO International Register of Professionals and appointed by ONAOO (the oldest and most respected olive oil tasting school) to represent their first international chapter in Canada in 2017. Fil is a member (and only Canadian) of the Italian National Directory of Virgin and Extra Virgin Olive Oil Experts, a tasting panel member of the CCIAA of Florence, Italy.
Fil collaborates and has taught master classes with many institutions and top culinary personalities, including Yale University, the Italian Trade Commission, Slow Food, MDR (Mediterranean Round Table), the Lebanese Embassy, the Italian and Spanish Chambers of Commerce, and Women in Olive Oil.
Fil is a steady fixture at international olive oil competitions, he lends his expertise and has been published and represented in international publications - The Brazilian Olive Oil Guide, UAE's Shawati' Magazine, Spain's El Anuario Olivar Español, South Korea's Magazine F, Italy's Chef Andrea Perini's "Trenta Gocce,” and USA's David Neuman's "Extra Virgin Olive Oil: the truth in your kitchen."
Fil founded Abandoned Grove, with the vision of "no grove abandoned".
